Mighty Me Child Safe Commitment Statement – 2024
At Mighty Me Early Learning Centre, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all children. We fully understand our responsibility and statutory duty of care to adhere to the Child Safe Standards and to continually strengthen our ability as an organization to prevent and respond to any concerns regarding child safety.
Our centre is dedicated to upholding our Service Philosophy, Child Safe Environment Policy, and Child Protection Policy, alongside the Child Safe Standards (2022), demonstrating our zero tolerance for child abuse. We aim to raise awareness about the importance of child safety within both our centre and the wider community.
We are committed to protecting children from all forms of abuse, neglect, and harm, while promoting a safe and nurturing environment that ensures children’s wellbeing. Our team takes mandatory reporting seriously and works to protect children from any forms of abuse, whether physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, or neglect.
We ensure clarity on appropriate and inappropriate behaviour between adults and children, as well as among children themselves, by making sure our team members fully understand their legal responsibilities. We also actively promote respect and kindness in all interactions.
At Mighty Me, we embrace diversity and do not tolerate any discriminatory practices. We work to create a culturally safe environment for all children, including First Nations children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with disabilities. Our approach is inclusive, celebrating the uniqueness of each child.
We are committed to the ongoing professional development of our team, ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to keep children safe. Our training programs, including the Child Safe Series provided by the Office of the Guardian, are key to our continuous learning. We ensure that all employees hold appropriate qualifications, and our recruitment process includes comprehensive reference checks.
Aligned with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, we are passionate about educating children on their right to be safe. We empower them to speak up if they feel unsafe and encourage them to voice their opinions on matters that affect them.
As educators, we actively listen to children and act on any concerns raised by them or others, as reflected in our policies and procedures aimed at keeping children safe. We maintain open communication with families and caregivers, and we review our policies and procedures at least annually to ensure continuous improvement.
